In education, assistant accountant is almost the same with public accountant but they have shorter time in studying and no need to follow the licensure test.

Talking about duties, assistant accountants have got larger responsibility for the same task as what accountant usually does but CPA status is what they do not have. Because of that, assistant accountant is delegated to do most of duties that accountant does not want to do.

What about the Salary Range?

Assistant accountant usually has a fair wage but it cannot be denied that the salary range is influenced by contributing factors. Longer time experience, in this case will of course become one of factor that influences the salary of range. The next factor that affects the salary range of assistant accountant is geographical location. Different area usually has different cost of living. So if you are staying in expensive cost living area, of course you are also having relatively higher salary.

The last factor that may affect the salary range of assistant accountant is of course, the level of responsibility that the position entails. Normally, for an entry level position, twenty five thousand dollars is the salary that they’ve got. While for the position that is having longer experience in working, one hundred thousand dollars is the general salary they may have.

Typical Duties

Assistant accountant is typically working depending on the direction of a CPA. Preparing tax returns is what normally done by this job and the CPA will usually review what you have reported. Beside that, reconciling bank accounts and preparing statements are the others duties that assistant accountant may have. Sometimes if the CPA sees it fit for you, you may be asked to do other duties but most of the duties are centered on particular accounting procedures.

Assistant accountant is normally put in large firm, so they could be working with some of accountants. The main job that assistant needs to do is to know what each accountant wants and how the work load that the accountant has.

Navigating different personalities and learning to multi task and making all the people you support stay happy is the other duty that assistant accountant usually gets too. This career is rather lucrative as your work is always being checked all the time, so you need to be able to handle the pressure. Because of ultimately the responsibility, CPA’s is always tactful to check every single work that assistant does. So no wonder if there will always be a double checking on works.
