5Spectacular photo quality
By Christina “sassynebrasky”
Watch Video Here. One word: WOW. I’m just so thrilled with this camera. It’s so easy to use, I didn’t once have to break out the instructions to get this thing up and going. It’s super sleek looking and the color is a nice touch. Most importantly – the quality of photos is just amazing. Even under low light conditions, the quality doesn’t suffer. You can shoot photos fairly quickly and there isnt a long pause time between shoots, for those wanting to take quick shots and not miss the moment. Videos are okay, but not great, though I didn’t purchase this camera for that feature, and it’s nice having video capability if nothing else is available. Anyway, my video should speak for itself. There are several different modes to choose from for those who are control freaks. As far as the “share” feature, I’m not quite sold on it yet. It’s easier for me to just put the SD card into my computer rather than go through the hassle of going through each photo, selecting it, choosing the share option, plugging it into the computer…etc., etc. Overall, a great camera for such a low price and I recommend it.

5Nice pictures and super easy to use!

5Great Camera and Great Price
By Booklover
I Love It. When I push the GO button there is No Hesitation. The photos of my grandkids, birds and my pets are great. The movies are good quality. You can turn off the red-eye preflash – that helps with the animal photos. It is small and light weight. It takes standard AA batteries. Great Buy!

2.0 out of 5 stars Not what I expected, December 21, 2010
By Joe

The cage is not what I thought it would be. It is not high quality. I have an iguana that is 2 years old and within just two weeks his claws have started to bend the metal screen. The screen is very cheap and the metal structure is VERY cheap. I am not happy with the purchase, but I wont send it back because it would be more of a hassle to disassemble it and mail it back. Do not order this.

Samsung PN59D550 59-Inch 1080p 600Hz 3D Plasma HDTV (Black)

This product is 3D-related. To help you get a great 3D experience, use the checklist below to ensure you have everything you need. 3D viewing requires:

A Display
First, you’ll need a 3D-ready display–whether it’s a 3D HDTV, 3D projector, or 3D computer monitor. These displays have more processing power than standard 2D models for displaying 3D images in rapid succession.
A Source
Your display may be ready for 3D playback, but you’ll still need a device to read 3D content. This can be a cable box with a subscription to a 3D channel, a 3D Blu-ray Disc player, or a PlayStation 3 system.
3D Content
3D content–the actual entertainment, in other words–will be played back using the source mentioned above, whether it’s a 3D broadcast from your cable provider, a 3D Blu-ray Disc, or a 3D video game.
3D Glasses
For now, the vast majority of 3D HDTVs require glasses for 3D viewing. Many use powered “active shutter” glasses, others polarized “passive” glasses. You’ll need one pair per viewer, and they’ll have to be compatible with your display, whether they’re the same brand, or a pair of “universal” glasses designed to work across brands.
HDMI Cable
To connect your source (such as a 3D Blu-ray Disc player) to your display, you’ll need a high-speed HDMI cable. Cables with this designation feature bandwidth speeds up to 10.2 Gbps (gigabits per second), for carrying the 3D signal without any loss of quality.

4A 2-D Review of a 3-D TV. Great TV.
By Anthony Pantliano
Disclaimer: First I’d like to say that I do not have the equipment to view this set’s 3-D picture yet. I bought it as a hedge against 3-D. I’m not sure if 3-D is going to take off, but if it does I know I’m ready for it. I thought I would get that out of the way so while you will know I cannot review that feature of the TV, I still have a lot to tell. Now on with the show…

The Panasonic comes shipped in a conveniently designed box where you simply punch out four inserts and lift the box top off of the base. Sort of like when you get a cake from the bakery in a plastic container. Inside’s the TV, the stand, the remote (and batteries), the power cord, and the owner’s manual. Attaching the swiveling base is very simple and involves screwing a metal fork onto the base then slipping the TV onto the fork and screwing it down. The whole process takes 5 minutes and I was able to do it without any assistance. Also, I’d like to mention that Amazon shipped the TV through a company called HomeDirectUSA. They were very professional and opened the box for me to make sure the TV was undamaged.

Looks wise the Panasonic isn’t much. It’s framed in a piano black trim and is about 3 inches deep. The base is also done in piano black with a chrome band around the edge. At the bottom of the TV’s frame is a bronze colored streak. Overall it’s a classy look, but also nothing special. On the lower edge of the TV are the 3-D glasses’ transmitters and the remote sensor. On the left side of the TV are various buttons (channel, volume, menu, input, and power) along with a few inputs (HDMI, composite video, and an SD card slot) and two USB ports (for hooking up the wireless dongle amongst other things). On the back of the set (on the set’s left side viewed from the front) are two HDMI, two components, one composite, one RF/coaxial, and a PC input. There is also an optical audio out. The TV’s build quality is very good, the materials are nice, and it feels sturdy overall. Lastly, the included remote is long and narrow, but well laid out with large buttons that light up.

Using TV is straightforward and easy. It guides you through the set-up, scans for channels, sets up the network, and sets the clock. The menu system is logically laid out and easy to use. The picture controls are many and allow you to fine tune precisely, although the pro-setting are only available in Custom picture mode. Besides Custom mode there is Vivid, Standard, THX, and Game modes. Each mode can be tweaked individually and set up differently for each input. Some of the features included with the Panasonic are 5 individual timers to turn the TV on and off and a sleep timer. There is also VieraLink that, if the TV is connected to the Internet, allows you to view YouTube or Netflix among other services (I have not used this feature since I stream that content through my Blu-ray player). You can insert an SD card or a USB jump drive into the set and view photos, videos, or listen to MP3 files as well. This feature worked well when I inserted an SD card from my Canon camera and the photos looked very nice on the screen. Another nice feature is being able to set channels as your favorites so you can jump to them more quickly, or have the channel only scan favorites when you go up and down channels. Features to reduce burn-in include a pixel orbiter (which very slightly shifts the picture to prevent burn-in) and a scrolling bar pattern that wipes a white bar over a black screen for 15 minutes. While burn-in is much less of an issues with plasma sets then it used to be, if you like to watch non-high definition TV with the bars on the side, or play video games and pause them for a long time, plasma may not be the best bet for you. Finally, there are light sensors on the front of the TV to allow the set to adjust its brightness based on ambient light conditions.

Picture quality on the Panasonic is where this TV shows it mettle. I have the set hooked up in the following manner. My LG Blu-ray player and Nintendo Wii are hooked up to my Onkyo receiver, which is in turn hooked into the Panasonic via HDMI. The Blu-ray is hooked into the receiver using HDMI and the Wii using composite video. For cable, I use the RF/coaxial input. I am not a videophile and tweaked the picture menu myself where I settled on the Vivid setting with some adjustments to make it considerably less vivid (usually I hate vivid mode but I like it on this set). I find the picture looks best when I leave the automatic adjustment for ambient light on. I also have the TV set-up to show 95% of the image where the edges are cropped off so I don’t view any image breakdown at the picture’s edge. Watching any high definition content, be it Blu-ray, cable TV, or streaming Netflix, the picture looks its best with great detail and clarity (this is especially true when watching Blu-ray discs). Watching standard definition content doesn’t look bad either, obviously it doesn’t look great stretched out to 50″, but the details hold up well and it’s more than acceptable. Regardless of the source, the colors are accurate, the dynamic range is great with deep and detailed shadows, and there is no motion blur even when playing video games or watching animated content. My previous television was a 32″ 720p LCD and compared to the LCD the plasma Panasonic looks more “fluid” and “film-like”. The details don’t jump out at you like they do on a high end LCD set (sometimes obnoxiously), but the picture is clear and sharp none the less. The screen has an anti-reflective coating that seems to work well. I have the set in a room with two big windows on the west side and I adjust the blinds when necessary to keep the sun’s reflections off the screen. In the end, a plasma is no worse in this regard than a traditional tube television. Overall, I am very pleased with the picture and am a plasma convert.

The TV’s built-in speakers are fine for casual viewing, but if you want a true big-screen experience you’re going to want to hook this set up to at least a 2.1 system, if not a full blown 7.2 system. Mine is hooked up to a 5.1 system.

Speaking of sounds, I don’t notice any humming from the set. Occasionally, if I have muted the sound and a bright white scene comes on I hear a slight hum, but it’s barely noticeable and goes away as soon as the scene changes. Also, the set does not give off much heat as far as I can tell.

There are only a few negatives I have about the set and they are as follows: 1) The piano black trim on the set shows reflections much worse than the screen itself. 2) The set only has 3 HDMI inputs, most have 4. 3) The remote sensor is very low on the set and I have my center speaker in front of the TV so I have to angle the remote upward in order for the signal to reach the TV.

All in all… a great plasma set, with tons of inputs, features, and adjustability, but an especially great picture quality.

The WX800 Cinema Series 3DTV combines elegant design, 3D-ready LED picture quality, and a wide array of available Internet content to create a new dimension in quality and style. Get full 1080p high-definition video, built-in wi-fi and networking abilities, wide media support, and plenty more with this 55-inch 3DTV from Toshiba.

Immerse Yourself in Entertainment

Get lost in your entertainment, with striking 3D visuals brought to you in full HD, thanks to a 1080p Full HD CineSpeed Display with LED Backlighting. You’ll savor brilliant high-def 3D images with a 7,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio for serious detail. Toshiba technologies like PixelPure 5G further ensure your movies and games will come to life, with incredible sharpness and smoother, purer, more natural images.

For real 3D video, just pair the WX800 with Toshiba Active Shutter 3D glasses, and enjoy Blu-ray 3D discs, along with a growing amount of broadcast content. 3D footage is shot with two special cameras spaced apart 2.5 inches to mimic our eyes. These state-of-the-art glasses (sold separately) create a dazzling 3D effect by opening and closing lenses 120 times per second. This requires a television iwth exceptional video features, and that of course will benefit all your 2D viewing.

And while the WX800 delivers 3D video, its own elegant, ultra-thin design approaches 2D. The choice of 46-inch or 54.6-inch screen sizes make Toshiba 3D TVs perfect for building a big, beautiful home theater. Even the stand looks great.

In back, the WX800 features an Ethernet port, along with built-in 802.11a/b/g/n wireless networking. This lets you access Toshiba’s Net TV content, for streaming video from services like Netflix, social networking with Twitter and Facebook, Internet radio from Pandora, and a whole lot more, for entertainment beyond the included three dimensions.

Finally, minimizing their televisions’ impact on the planet–and your pocketbook–is a concern for Toshiba. LED backlighting is one of the most power-efficient backlight technologies, and with features like a brightness sensor to automatically adjust backlighting to suit ambient light, this HDTV is designed to run with only the power it needs. It meets the strict ENERGY STAR energy efficiency guidelines set forth by the EPA and US Department of Energy.

5Amazing 3D HDTV Set
By tgoldtechie
i researched these types of sets for months for the family. surprisingly there were hardly any reviews on the 55wx800u – none on cnet or other major review sites. since my family loves toshiba products (3 generations of toshiba buying family members) we decided to take the plunge on this tv. reasonably priced with a whole host of settings to customize your tv’s picture, if you like to tweak. if not, you can choose from some nice presets. overall, the color is vibrant, the set is very attractive – elegant, professional but not overly done like some other sets. prior to this tv, we had the panasonic s2 42″ plasma tv (which replaced a 53″ toshiba projection television)in the family room,as i wanted to try a plasma set and toshiba doesn’t make plasmas. happy with the panay, we were torn to either get the panasonic 54vt 3dtv or this set.

pricing was similar – but internet was not built into the panay. the plasma consumes much more power than this set. also, the 3d glasses that come with the toshiba are much more comfortable than the ones that came with the panay. so without reviews and based solely on my family’s experience with toshiba, we bought this tv. we are extremely happy and i believe all the talk about blooming, clouding, flashlighting that comes with an edge lit set like this one is either overdone or toshiba has done an excellent job overcoming these issues. some quick things to note, connection to the wireless internet went smoothly and the widgets are very cool. there is a system update that takes about 5 mins – so make sure you update your system. also, when attaching the standing to the tv, it states slide and lock…it’s a bit confusing and customer service wasn’t very helpful – just slide flat so that the two tabs on the stand slide into the two openings on the back of the tv – so you don’t have to press down to lock in something the toshiba customer service (who apparently never put one of these things together) suggested. anyway, i wanted to put a real review up here since this is so lacking. if you have questions, ask. also, i will update in a couple months as to reliability. oh, lastly, don’t buy from JR.com – their policy states that they have to open the package and add some “protective materials”- well – that set arrived broken. i refused the package and reordered through amazon.com and they sent the package “factory sealed” and it was fine.

5The Latest Revision of an Excellent Camcorder
By Lon J. Seidman

Over ten years ago I bought Sony’s legendary TRV-900. It was a consumer camera so good and so ahead of its time that it remained on the market for four years – an eternity in the consumer electronics industry.

Canon has a similar product in their HV series HDV camcorders. They released such an outstanding camera two years ago with the HV20 that the two new models since (the HV30 and now the HV40) are really just small refinements of a mature and well designed product.

**NEW FEATURES**
So let’s get one thing out of the way up front: There really isn’t much of a difference between this camera and last year’s HV30 (which was a small upgrade on the superb HV20). As an HV20 owner, I felt right at home when this arrived and I powered it up. Video quality is about the same, they look pretty much the same, and overall performance is the same too.

What is different is the addition of true 24P recording which offers a more film-like frame rate over the standard 30 frames per second. It should be noted that prior versions of this camera (as well as Canon’s AVCHD models) also shoot 24P but that mode requires additional software to get to “true” 24P video when editing. You’ll want to check to ensure that your editing software supports true 24P footage as it’s not a configuration that is on many consumer cameras.

**AVCHD OR HDV?***
If you’re reading this it’s likely that you’re in the market for a new camcorder. It’s also likely that you’re confused over the multitude of different formats currently available: hard disk, flash memory, tape, etc. etc.

Despite the many recording mediums, the current crop of consumer cameras can be delineated into two camps: AVCHD (the hard disk and flash based cameras) and HDV (tape based).

HDV cameras have two advantages over their AVCHD counterparts. The first, while not as compelling a reason as a year ago, is compatibility. HDV was the first consumer HD format and is almost universally supported by just about every video editing software package released over the last three to four years. In addition the HV40 can also shoot in the older standard definition DV format, a format so old that even software and hardware from ten years ago can work with the footage.

Another factor to consider is the firewire port. Want to record directly to your PC or Mac? Or perhaps do a live broadcast to UStream or Stickam? HDV cameras like the HV40 stream compressed video in realtime over Firewire, something the AVCHD cameras don’t do.

Still, Canon’s AVCHD cameras are now recording at a higher bitrate and with a more advanced video compression algorithm that makes for better image quality. Canon’s flash based cameras, like the outstanding VIXIA HFS100, are mostly solid state and lack the complex (and delicate) machinery of a tape-based camcorder like the HV40.

**CONCLUSION**
Canon’s HV20 was a very mature product right at launch and that maturity continues in this iteration. Still, there’s nothing so compelling in the HV40 that makes it a necessary upgrade for HV30 or HV20 owners. For first time buyers, if you’re able to pick up an older model at a lower price you won’t be making much of a sacrifice in terms of features. It’s a great camera, just not any greater than the prior versions!

For most consumers HDV cameras are old technology. In fact I wouldn’t be surprised if the HV40 is the last tape-based camcorder Canon releases to market. AVCHD has matured to the point that I am now recommending that to friends over HDV based cameras. AVCHD’s lack of moving parts combined with the very low cost of flash memory makes it tough to recommend the bulkier mechanical alternatives like the HV40.

If, however, you’re using an older computer or need to stream video live the HV40 is one of the best (if not the best) HDV consumer cameras on the market.

If you’re looking to flesh out your movies, games, and music with lifelike, full-blooded surround sound, look no further than the HT-S6300. Key Features

DTS-HD Master Audio

DTS-HD Audio delivers sound quality that matches the clear and vivid images of high-definition video. Blu-ray and HD-DVD discs deliver five times the video resolution of standard DVD and produce images with stunning realism. But that’s only half of the story. You need incredible sound to complete the high definition experience and DTS-HD Audio provides the highest quality multi-channel sound possible. Movies come alive with sound as lifelike as the picture, and music becomes as real as a live performance.

Faroudja DCDi CINEMA

The Faroudja name is synonymous with high-quality video processing. The Faroudja technologies incorporated into our 2008 A/V receiver range give you the power to bring out the best from both high-definition and standard-definition video content. The Faroudja DCDi Edge video processor converts interlaced video signals to progressive scan signals and effectively eliminates video artifacts from HDTV images. The Faroudja DCDi Cinema video processor is a more sophisticated version that drastically reduces video noise without sacrificing image quality and sharpness. Both processors can scale standard-definition sources up to 1080i–and DCDi Cinema can additionally upscale to 1080p–for output to HDTVs.

Powered Zone 2

By dedicating a pair of channels on receivers with this capability, you don’t need an external amplifier to enjoy an independent stereo audio source in a remote room. For example, on higher-end models this allows for a full 5.1 channel movie to be enjoyed in the home theater, while simultaneously sending a song from a CD (or other source) to speakers in another room.

Audyssey Audio Correction Technology
  • Audyssey 2EQ for Room Acoustic Correction: Tailors multichannel audio for your home theater by correcting problems both in frequency response and in the time domain (where most of the problems lie) for a clear, precise, and natural sound.
  • Audyssey Dynamic Volume: Maintains the desired listening level for all content while optimizing the dynamic range.
  • Audyssey Dynamic EQ for Loudness Correction: Solves the problem of deteriorating sound quality at lower volumes.
HD Radio Ready

Enjoy the crisp clear sound of HD Radio by connecting the optional UP-HT1 module on u-Port capable Onkyo models.

5Better design than S5300
By Y. Ning
This model is basically the same as S5300, with extra features:

  1. Can up-convert all video inputs to 1080P and output through HDMI. S5300 can’t do this.
  2. Comes with a setup mic for Audessy to set up speakers automatically.S5300 doesn’t have it.
  3. Front Speaker is smaller than those of S5300. I hooked them up on wall they look better. The front speakers of S5300 are much bigger and the rear speakers are much smaller.
  4. Subwoofer is taller and narrower than that of S5300. To me that is better.
  5. Total weight is like 10lb less than S5300.

It is about $100 more than S5300. You can go with S5300 for cheaper if you don’t mind those points above.
